Charles Willson Peale d(1741-1827) portrayed George Washington as a relaxed, yet powerful military leader wearing the blue sash of commander-in-chief of the Continental Army. The piece was purchased in 2004 by a private foundation for Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Bentonville, AR.
