Eakins painting, The Biglin Brothers Turning the Stake (1873) captures John and James Biglin, renown professional rowers, rounding the mark in a challenge race on a 5 mile course on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia between the Columbia Bridge and the Girard St. Bridge. The brothers were victorious and declared world champions. This piece includes water collected at each of the bridges.
